Social networks are a group of applications and websites which allow users to communicate between them. Although social networks are used in universities, workplaces, and high schools, they are most popular online.
These websites are known as social sites. These sites normally work as online communities in the internet, and sometimes, depending on the website, can share common interest such as hobbies or different lifestyles.
Nowadays there are other types of social networks which include instant messaging. Examples of these can be Facebook, Whatsapp, Telegram, MSN, etc...
