Animal communication is the transfer of information from one or a group of animals to one or more aimals whichThis transfer of information may be deliberate, such as a courtship display, or it may be unintentional, such as a prey detecting the scent of its predator.
Animals have different ways or modes of communitating with other animals, and sometimes with themselves. These can be:
·Auditory- These can include vocal communication, which in many cases is essential for many rasks, including mating rituals, warning calls, etc. But not all animals use vocal communication. Many arthropods rub specialized body parts to produce sound, which purposes may be very similar to those animals which communicate vocally.
·Olfactory- This is the oldest method of communication, and also one of the least understood. This is because of a "noisy" nature with many chemicals in the environment, therefore really hard to focus on specifc ones. The primary function of using this method of communication is to detect resources.
·Electro- This is a rare form of communication in the animal kingdom. it is seen primary in aquatic animals which are capable of electroreception, which are also tied with n active sensory modality for electrolocation. These aquatic animals communicate by generating electric fields. The changes in the field are then detected by specialized organs, which can then be "translated" to information.
Other forms of animal communication can be touch, seismic, autocomunication and thermal.
